GIS Cener for Environment and Disaster Mitigation, Niigata University

Purpose

Since the serious disasters of heavy rainfalls and strong earthquakes in 2004,in Niigata region, foundation arrangement of variable geographical information system has been going on in and out of the Niigata University. Hence, in order to develop further the education and studies on environment and disaster mitigation, GIS Center for Environment and Disaster Mitigation has been established, belonging to the Institute of Science and Technology, Niigata University. The aim of this center is international and domestic communication by sharing, exchanging and spreading of data on environmental and disaster sciences. Final purpose is that our university will be a center of geographical information science by comminunicating with peoples from Eurasian countries as well as domestic areas.
